Terms and Conditions

1. The competition is open to all residents of the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man aged 18 or over except Ö÷²¥´óÐã or Ö÷²¥´óÐã Group Company employees, their close relatives or anyone connected with the competition or the particular prize being offered.

2. At some point during the Radio 2 Zoe Ball Breakfast show - with Scott Mills sitting in - on 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th August 2024, listeners will be given a cue to call to enter the competition. From that moment listeners have 30 minutes to call 08000 2 88 291 and get through where they will have to correctly answer a qualifying question. Successful callers will be scored based on their enthusiasm and desire to win the tickets. The phone operators will shortlist a selection of entrants with the highest overall scores. Shortlisted entrants will be called back in order of their scores (with the highest scoring entrant being called first).

If the call is not answered on the first attempt, or if there is no answer after 30 seconds of the phone ringing, or the shortlisted entrant is rude or abusive or refuses to go on-air, then they will not take part in the competition. The entrant with the next highest score will be called and so on.

The entrant will be brought on air to play the competition. The entrant must correctly answer three questions in a row to win the prize. Entrants will have five seconds to answer each question which is Radio 2 in the Park-related. If the entrant incorrectly answers any question they will be immediately knocked out of the competition and it will move onto the next high scoring entrant.

If by the end of the Radio 2 Zoe Ball Breakfast show on each day of the competition no winner has been found the competition prize will roll-over into the Radio 2 Zoe Ball Breakfast show the next day. The competition will continue to roll-over to the next Radio 2 Zoe Ball Breakfast show until a winner is found. On the last day (30 August) the prize will not roll over and the competition will be played until a it is won. The competition and registration process will reset each day. Listeners will need to register for every day the competition runs to enter for that day.

3. Registration to take part in the competition is only available by using the following method:

by phoning 08000 2 88 291 during the registration window described above. Calls are free from landlines and mobiles. No other method of entry will be accepted. If a winner is found, it will be announced during each morning’s breakfast show between 0630 and 0930 on each of the 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th August 2024.

4. The phone from which the call is made in the registration process must be the entrant’s phone. The entrant must be entering on their own behalf. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who did not register using their own phone, who answered a call to someone else’s phone or who has someone else answer their phone on their behalf. Further the Ö÷²¥´óÐã reserves the right to disqualify an entrant if it discovers the information provided in the registration process is incorrect. This may mean that a winner is disqualified for not providing the correct information for verification purposes, that prize will go back into the pot and a subsequent round of the competition will take place as soon as possible.

5. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã's decision as to entrants and winners is final. No correspondence relating to the competition will be entered into.

6. Entrants agree to take part in any post-competition publicity if required.

7. The prize on each day of the competition consists of; two (2) tickets to Radio 2 In The Park in Preston 2024 for the full duration of the event, one hotel room sleeping two (2) people and standard class return rail travel to Preston from anywhere in the UK. Hotel accommodation will be offered as a twin or double room. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã cannot guarantee winners will receive their preferred choice of room. Expenses are not included unless expressly stated in these terms and the Ö÷²¥´óÐã will not be responsible for any reimbursements. 8. The prize is as described above. The prize description may include additional requirements which alter the eligibility of that particular round of the competition, impose additional rules or restrictions specific to that prize. You must read the particular prize description carefully before entering. The particular prize may require collection or additional actions to be taken for fulfilment. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã is not responsible for winners failing to follow instructions. There will be no additional elements, fees or expenses covered (including but not limited to travel or accommodation) unless expressly stated in the particular prize description.

9. If the winners and/or their guest (if applicable) have any health or accessibility requirements, these need to be disclosed to the Ö÷²¥´óÐã prior to prize fulfilment. In order to fully experience the prize that includes experiences or ticketed events, there may be some Health & Safety requirements imposed by Ö÷²¥´óÐã, the promoter or the venue. These will need to be followed prior to those elements being experienced. The winner and their guest (if applicable) must also comply with the health, safety and security policies at any venue associated with the prize.

10. If the prize includes tickets or entry to an event, the Ö÷²¥´óÐã will not be responsible for any failure of the winner and/or guests (if applicable) to gain entry or re-entry to the event due to their behaviour or failing to meet the admission requirements. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã will not be responsible for suspension or cancellation of events that may form part of the prize, including though governmental restrictions. In such cases, only the tangible part of the prize will be fulfilled.

11. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and are not redeemable for cash or other prizes.

12. Winners are excluded from subsequent rounds of the competition.

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã, their sub-contractors, subsidiaries and/or agencies cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any server, network, system or otherwise which may result in any registration not being properly logged or not recorded.

15. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã reserves the right to (i) amend these terms and conditions in any way; (ii) disqualify any entrant or winner who breaches these rules, has acted fraudulently in any way or brings the Ö÷²¥´óÐã into disrepute (in its sole discretion); (iii) disqualify any entrant or winner, withdraw or substitute any prize should an entrant winner or guest at any stage exhibit inappropriate or dangerous behaviour (including, but not limited to, being under the influence of drugs, alcohol or causing a nuisance) before, whilst on air or afterwards in relation to this competition; (iv) impose additional entry requirements, restrictions or additional rules should the specific prize on offer requires it (including, but not limited to, additional age or other event entry requirements, or require a parent or guardian to be present if the winner or a guest is under 18 for some or all of the prize); and (v) cancel or vary the competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise beyond its control.

16. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition.

17. The competition is run by the Ö÷²¥´óÐã. The applicable law is that of England and Wales.

We may use your on-air appearance (if applicable) for promotional purposes on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã’s social media sites.

What personal data will the Ö÷²¥´óÐã collect and how will we use it?

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã will collect and process your personal data for the purposes of administering the telephony competition; keeping a record of winners for compliance and auditing purposes; to create broadcast content; and to provide the winner with their prize.

Personal data

Depending on the nature of the competition, the Ö÷²¥´óÐã may collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Your age, or confirmation you are old enough to take part
  • A broadcast recording of your voice
  • Your opinions, answers to our questions and biographical information you may wish to share

We may also collect your email address or postal address if you are a winner so that we can send you your prize.

Who is the Data Controller?

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that the Ö÷²¥´óÐã decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the Ö÷²¥´óÐã has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data

The lawful basis on which the Ö÷²¥´óÐã processes the personal data is the performance of its public task. The Ö÷²¥´óÐã’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates and entertains.

We also have a legal obligation to process the personal data of the winners to comply with relevant competition regulations.

Sharing your personal data

The Ö÷²¥´óÐã works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã and not independently of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã. For telephony competitions we use a third-party telephony platform.

We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Retaining your personal data

Personal data stored on the telephone platform, such as contact telephone number and any call recordings will be kept for 12 months then deleted.

Other personal data from unsuccessful entrants will be retained for 12 months.

We keep records of winners and runners-up for two (2) years for auditing and compliance purposes.

If you appear on a broadcast, the programme will be retained and archived in perpetuity by the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.

Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA).

Your rights and more information

You have rights under data protection law:

  • You can request a copy of the personal data the Ö÷²¥´óÐã stores about you.
  • You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you.
  • You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted, however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the Ö÷²¥´óÐã to refuse your request.
  • In certain circumstances you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object to the processing of your personal data.
  • You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
