5 things you might not know about Total Wipeout
As Freddie and Paddy take over classic episodes of Total Wipeout, here are some facts about the show you might not already know.

1. The show ran for four years
Total Wipeout first aired on 3 January 2009 and ended on 31 December 2012. There were a total of 69 episodes including Winter Wipeout, North v South and 10 celebrity specials.
2. There were five female winners overall
'Gymnast Rachel', the winner of episode 2, was the show’s first ever female winner. One of the five female winners was Danielle Lloyd who won her celebrity special - beating Dominic Littlewood by a second!

3. The contestants flew to South America to take part
The show was filmed in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

4. Some impressive records were set
‘Worm Andy’, who was the winner of episode 3, had a time of 1.07 minutes on The Wipeout Zone, making him one of the fastest ever contestants on the show.
The course record of 54 seconds was set by British athlete Dalton Grant during a celebrity special.
5. It's been adapted all over the world
Created by Endemol Shine North America, the international format has been adapted in over 30 markets including Australia and across Europe and Latin America. The iconic format will be making a comeback to US screens after six years with a reimagined series commissioned by TBS earlier this year.
