David Hemery, Olympic Champion and Former President of UK Athletics

Rob Bonnet talks to David Hemery, former British Olympic gold medallist and president of UK Athletics, about the IOC's falure to ban Russia from competing in the Rio Olympics.

Rob Bonnet talks to David Hemery, former British Olympic gold medallist who won the 400 metres hurdles in the 1968 Mexico Games with a new world record, and yet had to ask a trackside reporter whether he'd actually come first. In a distinguished career in sports governance, David spent four years as president of UK Athletics, a role he identified as being the 'conscience of the sport'.

Discussion centres around the international ban on Russia's track and field athletes which prevents them from going to the Rio Olympics, and the IOC's failure to extend that to the rest of the Russian team.
