World record holder Asafa Powell is hoping to see off the challenge of America's Tyson Gay in a bid to win his first global title, whilst British hopes lie with Marlon Devonish, Craig Pickering and Mark Lewis-Francis. In the heptathlon Sweden's golden girl Carolina Kluft is attempting to win her third world title in succession with Kelly Sotherton and Jessica Ennis hoping to challenge for medals.
