Claire Martin focuses on the work of two influential jazz drummers - Allan Ganley and Bill Bruford.

Bruford talks to Claire about his life on the road, most recently with the band Earthworks - with Tim Garland - which features music commissioned specially by this programme. Bruford rose to fame on the British rock scene, playing with King Crimson and Yes, and following his retirement in 2009 from performing, he published his autobiography.

And saxophonist Andy Panayi, who has collated scores from the widely admired Allan Ganley, talks to Claire about the late drummer. Ganley began his career in dance bands and wrote extensively for his own big band, and the CD The Allan Ganley Legacy features tracks from his extensive library used by the Tubby Hayes band, the Johnny Dankworth band and his permanent chair as drummer at Ronnie Scott's Club.
