主播大秀

Julian Joseph presents a session from guitarist John Goldie, given at the Recital Room, City Halls in Glasgow in May 2009, and a profile of the new album from London group Empirical, featuring an interview with band members Nathaniel Facey (alto sax) and Lewis Wright (vibes).

Scot John Goldie started playing guitar at around six years old, initially self-taught, gradually progressing to playing in rock and blues bands at around 12. Around this time, he studied music theory and harmony with a local tutor and also became involved with the dance band scene. Whilst playing a function gig, John was spotted by the musical director of a visiting Motown act from the USA and asked to be guitarist on their next UK tour.

London-based group Empirical have released their highly-anticipated second album Out 'n' In, which pays tribute to the great saxophonist Eric Dolphy through nine Dolphy-inspired original compositions and two new arrangements of his work - Hat and Beard and Gazzelloni.
