Claire Martin presents conversation and music from one of the UK's most influential guitarists, John Etheridge. His style is influenced by the ground-breaking sound of Soft Machine and the energy of Stephane Grappelli. His latest album Small Hotel takes tunes from his work with Grappelli and with his Chorus of Chris Garrick (violin), Dave Kelbie (rhythm guitar) and Andy Crowdy (double bass).

With the Band Soft Machine, John is equally at home on acoustic and electric guitar and has played with John Williams, Yehudi Menuhin, Dizzie Gillespie, Herb Ellis, Mundell Lowe, Nigel Kennedy, Pat Metheny, Birelli Lagrene, Barney Kessel, Vic Juris among others. John's ability as an outstanding composer is sometimes overlooked but he is often under pressure from audiences to feature more of his own material.
