Sea Empress

Iolo Williams investigates the long-term effects of one of the largest oil spills in European history, caused by the grounding of the Sea Empress in 1996.

February 15th 1996. A massive oil tanker named The Sea Empress ran aground spilling over 70,000 tonnes of oil into the sea. To environmentalists and the people of Milford Haven alike this was a disaster. Iolo Williams was himself involved in the frantic effort to clean up oiled birds. He investigates the long-term effects of one of the world's worst oil spills.
