Sitting by Heather’s hospital bedside, Shirley apologises for being a bad friend. Jodie and Darren look after George. Darren’s angry when he realises Heather nearly exposed his son to carbon monoxide poisoning. Shirley and Dot go to Heather’s bedsit and discover how squalid it is.

Heather comes home from hospital, Shirley’s invited her to stay. She and Shirley go straight to Max’s to collect George, but when they get there, Darren tells Heather George is staying with him – he might even get residency. Heather leaves in tears.

It’s Mo’s birthday, Kat sends her to get her hair done and she returns with pink hair extensions. Alfie finds Kat sitting alone on a bench. She hands him the Coroner’s letter – they think Tommy died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Alfie and Kat talk about Tommy, Alfie talks about his grief, it helps Kat. Kat realises she hasn’t organised anything for Mo’s birthday evening. Alfie and Kat call a truce for the night and take her to the Argee Bhajee.

Janine persuades Whitney to steal some spirits from the bar and she takes her chance when Kat goes upstairs with a woman from the Coroner’s Office. Later, Kat finds vodka in Whitney’s bag and sacks her. Whitney tries to sell her possessions. Janine’s furious when she realises Whitney didn’t take the wages Kat offered.

Roxy does a pregnancy test – it’s negative. She assures Christian and Syed they can try again next month, but they tell her they’re not going to straight away, they want to get their lives sorted first.

Ronnie arrives at her counsellor’s office, but runs away before her session begins. She lies, telling Jack the session was good but intense.

Edward visits Dot – it transpires he works for community meals. They enjoy a cup of tea and a chat.
