With a live session from Aurelio Martinez

Cerys Matthews has a live session from Garifuna artist Aurelio Martinez of Honduras.

Cerys is joined for a live session by Garifuna artist Aurelio Martinez from Honduras. Aurelio is a tradition-bearer of the Garifuna culture that fuses African and Caribbean roots. Aurelio recorded his latest album Laru Beya in Honduras and Belize, and it features contributions from Youssou N'Dour and Orchestra Baobab. It describes the struggles of the past and hopes for the future of the Garifuna, a community which originated from African slaves ship-wrecked on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. Aurelio and his band performed at the WOMAD festival earlier this year.
