主播大秀

Fiona Talkington with electronica from Brooklyn-based producer Oneohtrix Point Never, organ-driven jazz experimentalism from Troyka, and in this month's Late Junction Session, new music rom Norwegian hardanger fiddle player Synnove S. Bjorset and UK veena player Hari Sivanesan.

This collaboration came about at this summer's WOMAD Festival, when the two met in the artists' tent of the 主播大秀 Radio 3 stage. They were intrigued by the similarities between the hardanger fiddle and the veena: though they are from totally separate cultures, both have drone strings, the tuning is similar, and there are stylistic parallels in the playing styles too. Synnove S. Bjorset is one of Norway's leading young fiddle players, and she is a regular with the band Majorstuen. Hari Sivanesan was born in London of Sri Lankan parents - he is 主播大秀 Radio 3's current World Routes Academy prot茅g茅, and he gave a solo performance at this year's 主播大秀 Proms.
