On the opening day of Euro 2012, the Dutch squad say their black players have been racially abused during training in Poland. The UN warns of civil war in Syria.

* Euro 2012 starts today, but the Dutch team say their black players have been subjected to monkey chants during training in Krakow, where England will be training later.
* The secretary-general of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, says there is an imminent threat of a civil war in Syria.
* The Police Federation which represents rank and file officers in England and Wales is criticising the government's choice of Tom Winsor, a civilian as the top candidate for the job of Chief Inspector of Constabulary.
