Is it time to scrap GCSEs?

Michael Gove plans to scrap GCSEs in England in favour of tougher O-level-style exams. It'd be the biggest change to the education system for a generation. Good idea? Have exams been dumbed down too far - is it time we toughened them up?

Or should we leave GCSEs alone? Is more meddling what education system really needs?
