Ben desperately tries to convince a distraught Shirley that Phil didn鈥檛 kill Heather. In the bathroom, Ben leaves Phil a voicemail, hiding the phone when Shirley comes to the door. Shirley tries to piece together the events of the night Heather was murdered, stopping Ben from going to find Phil or Jay. Frustrated, Ben tells her too many people have now touched the frame, if Phil denies killing Heather there鈥檚 nothing she can do. Ben then asserts that Phil would never have left George alone in his bed. Realising Ben couldn鈥檛 have known where George was, Shirley realises he killed Heather and forces him to confess. Ben flees upstairs and locks himself in the bathroom. He tries to make a phone call, but drops the phone when Shirley kicks the door open. Insisting Ben can tell Heather he鈥檚 sorry in person, Shirley plunges his head into the bathwater just as Phil bursts in.

Each time Phil attempts to go home to Shirley he鈥檚 waylaid. Sharon refuses to wear the clothes he buys then Max appears telling him Ian鈥檚 at the car lot. Avoiding Sharon鈥檚 questions, Phil sends her off with Max while he deals with Ian. Phil eventually talks Ian round, then tells him there鈥檚 someone who wants to see him. Max lends Sharon some of Tanya鈥檚 clothes. Jack arrives to borrow one of Max鈥檚 ties for a date. Jack鈥檚 disgusted when he discovers Sharon in the living room. She鈥檚 incensed when he asks how much Max鈥檚 paying her, slapping then kicking him. She explains she鈥檚 a friend of Phil and Ian鈥檚. Jack abandons his planned date and tells Sharon he鈥檚 free, but she replies she鈥檚 not. Phil and Ian arrive at Max鈥檚. Sharon鈥檚 shocked to see the state Ian鈥檚 in. She hugs him, assuring him she鈥檚 back.
