The UK Drug Policy Commission says smoking cannabis is no worse than eating junk food or gambling. Have we been too hard on drugs in the past?

Are we too hard on drug use?

A new report calls on the government to soften its stance on drugs. The UK Drug Policy Commission says smoking cannabis is no worse than eating junk food or gambling.

The authors - who include scientists and former police officers - say taking drugs is beneficial for SOME people, and there's little proof that putting people in prison stops them either producing or selling them.

So have we been too tough in the past? Countries like Spain and Italy, have relaxed their approach - and they haven't seen a huge jump in drugs use...

Or do you think even the slightest relaxation of the laws is the wrong way to go? Are all drugs - without exception - bad news?

Are we - as this report says - too HARD on drug use?
