Savita Halappanavar went to the University Hospital Galway with severe back pains and was told she was having a miscarriage. Over the next three days and in 鈥渟evere pain鈥� according to her husband Praveen she repeatedly asked for a medical termination which was refused as there was a foetal heartbeat.听 After the dead foetus was removed Savita was taken to a high dependency unit and then intenstive care where she died two days later, of septicaemia. Praveen Halppanavar claims his wife wouldn鈥檛 have died if she鈥檇 been allowed a termination earlier. There are vigils and protests taking place around Ireland, Northern Ireland and in London.

Mark Langridge thought he was helping out a lesbian friend when he agreed to become a so that she could have children.
