The brutal rape and murder of a 23 year old woman in Delhi has sparked outrage across India and has been reported around the world. The woman in question boarded what she thought was a public bus to return home after an evening out. She was savagely beaten, gang-raped and left for the dead on the side of the road. Six suspects have since been arrested, charged and the preliminary court proceedings resume聽today. Violence against women is a common fact of life in India yet following this case women and men have taken to the streets to protest against the culture of violence. So could this be a watershed moment for women in India? Jane speaks to Vrinda Grover a human rights lawyer in Delhi.
