The former cabinet minister Chris Huhne and his ex wife Vicky Pryce are jailed for 8 months for perverting the course of justice. For only the second time since she became monarch, the Queen has pulled out of the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Blizzards and gale force winds badly affect the Channel islands, normally the warmest place in the British Isles.
