Maria tried out some new material ahead of standing in for Liza Tarbuck. Luckily for Radio 2's Saturday evening audience, she won't be using it twice.

Then, comedian, actor and documentary-maker Bill Bailey stopped by to chat about Darwin, evolution and the eccentric British explorer Alfred Russel Wallace. Bill shared two bits of advice: don't eat taramasalata and never go to a Star Trek convention.

Later, Graham caught up with man-band Blue who gave us a world exclusive first-play of a track off their new album. They shared a secret: they're hoping to copy Adele's success because much of the record features songs about heartache. They'll be doing a Bond theme next!

Graham shared something too, his favourite new expression this week is social media echo...you had to be there.

Hot Butter's Pop Corn was today's I Can't Believe It's Not Better song but the nation disagreed with that choice and many danced to it with much glee. And we sort of glossed over the potentially disturbing tale in the tune that was I Drove All Night by Roy Orbison.
