Kevin Barry is the author of the short story collections 鈥楾here Are Little Kingdoms鈥 (Stinging Fly Press) and 鈥楧ark Lies the Island鈥 (Vintage).His novel 鈥楥ity of Bohane鈥 (Vintage) has just received the 2013 International Dublin Literary Award. Kevin鈥檚 also the editor of 鈥楾own and Country: New Irish Short Stories鈥 (Faber)鈥. He reads a piece specially written for The Verb, 鈥楾he Slow Days鈥, about the times when you just can鈥檛 write.


Michael Bradley

Michael Bradley

The musician Michael Bradley played bass in seminal Derry band 鈥楾he Undertones鈥 鈥 he鈥檚 now a broadcaster and presents Pure Culture on 主播大秀 Radio Foyle. Michael explores his relationship with the song 鈥楧anny Boy鈥, also known as the 鈥楲ondonderry Air鈥, which celebrates its centenary this year.


Gerry Diver

Gerry Diver

Gerry Diver is the producer and sound artist behind the Mercury prize nominated 鈥楽peech Project鈥 (One Fine Day Records), music inspired by and incorporating interviews with Irish folk musicians. Gerry visited Barry McGuigan to record memories of his father Pat McGuigan, singing 鈥楧anny Boy鈥 before his 1985 WBA featherweight championship match. This interview is the inspiration for a specially commissioned piece of sound art called 鈥楢 Father鈥檚 Anthem鈥櫬



SOAK

SOAK

SOAK, aka Bridie Monds-Watson is a Derry based singer-songwriter who has released two EPS and performed at the launch of the City of Culture, all before her 17th birthday. For The Verb, SOAK performs two of her intimate and powerful songs, 鈥楽ea Creatures鈥 and 鈥楥ells鈥.

Her forthcoming EP is called 鈥楤lud鈥.
