Trade secrets tip of the day
There鈥檚 a whole world of tools out there to collect so it鈥檚 a good idea to focus your attention. One of the best ways is to go for a particular tool-maker: Stanley, for example, or Miller鈥檚. Check the body of the tool, particularly metal parts, for engravings, patent numbers, logos or other stamp marks. Identifying the manufacturer is often the first step.

As with all collectables, rarity will affect the price of tools. But condition can be even more important: a commonly found tool can be elevated into the category of a rare one when it鈥檚 in mint condition in its original box.
