Episode 13 of 18

Documentary. 1450 years on since Columba set foot on Iona, Babs McGregor journeys to this special island to see if Columba's legacy lives on in 2013.

'S e bliadhna air leth a th'ann an 2013 air Eilean Ì agus iad a' comharrachadh 1450 bliadhna bho thàinig Colm Cille. Tha cuideachd 75 bliadhna ann bho chaidh Coimhearsnachd Ì a stèidheachadh leis an Urramach Seòras MacLeòid à Baile Ghobhainn.

Mar chomharra air an seo ghabh Babs NicGriogair cuairt dhan eilean shònraichte seo son coinneachadh an dà chuid ri na h-eileanaich fhèin a tha a' feuchainn ri dòigh-beatha a dhèanamh air an Eilean, agus cuideachd ri Coimhearsnachd Ì, a' bhuidheann uil-eaglaiseil Crìosdaidheachd a tha stèidhte an sin.

Am measg an fheadhainn ris na choinnich i, bha an t-Urramhach Peadar MacDhòmhnaill a tha os cionn Coimhearsnachd Ì an-diugh; agus Davie Kirkpatrick a tha air a bhith a' ruith luchd-turais air ais 's air adhart a dh' eilean Stafa air a' bhàta aige airson còrr is fichead bliadhna.

2013 is a significant year for Iona, as it's 1450 years since Columba set foot on the island. It's also 75 years since the Iona Community was established by Rev. George MacLeod from Govan.

To mark this, Babs MacGregor makes a trip to the island to meet the people who have made it their home, and also from the Iona community, the ecumenical Christian group based on the island.

Amongst those she meets are Rev. Peter MacDonald who leads the Iona Community today, and Davie Kirkpatrick who's been ferrying tourists backwards and forwards to Staffa on his boat for over 20 years. What value does the island and Columba hold for people today and does Columba's legacy live on in 2013?
