Dementia is the slow death of the brain caused by diseases such as Alzheimer鈥檚.聽
Confusion, disorientation and memory loss are all common symptoms but as the condition advances, it can also destroy people鈥檚 ability to communicate. As a result, people with dementia often feel isolated and afraid of the world around them.聽
We offer support and information for all people affected by dementia in the UK. With the right support we believe people with dementia can live a good quality of life.

Graham Browne
Graham is one of 800,000 people in the UK who are living with dementia.聽
He was diagnosed at just 48 and given between 2 and 10 years to live. It was a massive shock for him and his family so they turned to Alzheimer鈥檚 Society for help. Soon he was attending one of our weekly Dementia Caf茅s.

Dementia Caf茅s
Dementia Caf茅s are local support services. They offer a sanctuary for people affected by dementia, providing a chance to share their experiences and get advice from trained professionals.聽
Most importantly they are a place where people like Graham can make friends with people who understand the problems he faces.

Alzheimer鈥檚 Society provides 2,000 local support services as well as information and advice through our National Helpline, website, and publications.聽
We fund pioneering research into the cause, care and cure of dementia. We champion the rights of people affected by dementia ensuring their voices are heard.
