Six lions at Longleat Safari Park in Wiltshire have been destroyed, because of inbreeding which led to serious genetic defects.

And Marius the two-year old giraffe was put down yesterday at Copenhagen Zoo, again because of inbreeding. A crowd of visitors, including children, watched as the carcass was cut up and fed to the lions. Zoos: Cruelty or Conservation?
