More people in Scotland are choosing to start their own businesses, according to new figures collated by the Federation of Small Businesses in Scotland.

They're asking the public to "show some love" to new businesses, and are calling on banks, regulators and the government to do the same.

The number of businesses newly registered in Scotland rose by nearly 20% from the year 2012 to the year 2013, rising from around 25,000 to around 30,000 companies. Recent Scottish Government figures show that around 340,000 businesses were operating in Scotland last year, the highest since records began.
