Louise White asks why are Scottish students so reluctant to spread their wings.

It's been claimed that a reluctance amongst Scottish students to study abroad is endangering the economy here. Whilst there were 126,000 home students at Scottish universities in 2011/12 only 1810 left to learn overseas. There were more than 40,000 students from foreign countries at Unis here and countries like France and Germany send many more students overseas to study as Scotland does (79,600 and 132,000 respectively). So why do we lag so far behind?
