Rolf Harris

Rolf Harris has been found guilty off all 12 charges of indecent assault. The jury deliberated for more than 37 hours before convicting the veteran entertainer and artist of assaults on four girls aged between 7 and 19. He will be sentenced on Friday. He is the highest profile celebrity to be convicted for indecent assault since Operation Yewtree was set up. His crimes took place in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s but could this still happen today? What has changed in the law and in society to prevent this predatory behaviour from going on unnoticed? And how should we speak to our children about abuse today? Jane discusses these issues withÌý Joan Smith, columnist and co-chair of the Mayor of London's Violence Against Women and Girls panel; Marion Smullen, former teacher, now a criminal barrister specialising in sexual cases and John Cameron - head of child protection operations at NSPCC.

Flexible Working

To any workers who long to cut down their five-day working week to a three-day week, work from home or work flexible hours - now is your chance. Yesterday employees gained the right to request flexible working. Up to now the right has only been available for carers, or people who look after children, but it is now being extended to all employees with 26 or more weeks' service.Ìý Workers of all ages will be able to ask their boss to alter the way they work, regardless of whether they have dependents or caring responsibilities. Jane discusses the benefits of flexible working and changes to parental leave with husband and wife Liberal Democrat MPs Jo Swinson and Duncan Hames, two days into Jo’s return from 6 months maternity leave.

Victoria Milligan

Just over a year ago Victoria Milligan’s family was in a terrible accident. The family, who were on holiday from London, were thrown out of their boat off Padstow in Cornwall.Ìý Nick Milligan and his daughter were both killed. Victoria lost a leg and her son Kit was severely injured. A report concluded that if a kill cord had been worn the engine would have cut out when they were thrown overboard. Now Victoria is rebuilding her own and her family’s life.Ìý With the help of friends, Nick’s work colleagues and the community around her, she has raised over £600,000 for charity.ÌýÌý She joins Jane to talk about the accident, her altered perspective on life, the fund-raising and her plans for the future.

Bonnie Greer

Bonnie Greer, the American-British playwright and author has written volume one of her autobiography ‘A Parallel Life’. Determined not to turn into a domestic drudge like her mother and desperate to write, she looks for black female role models living the life she wants, and doesn’t find any. Bonnie Greer talks to Jane Garvey about getting history and memory down on the page.
