More than three years of civil war in Syria have produced nearly three million refugees. A new report by the United Nations Refugee Agency reveals that 145,000 Syrian refugee families in Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan 鈥� or one in four households 鈥� are headed by women facing a lone fight for survival. Jenni talks to Sybella Wilkes, Senior Communications Officer for the in Geneva and co-author of the report, about the daily struggle for Syrian women refugees battling to maintain their dignity and care for their families under the threat of violence or exploitation.

Lady Hester Pulter was a 17th century poet whose manuscript was lost for over 300 years. Her forthright views and personal reflections with a confessional tone make Lady Hester鈥檚 works unique. Dr Alice Eardley, Leverhulme Early Career fellow at the University of Southampton, has edited the manuscript which was compiled around 1660 and brings together 130 poems and prose composed throughout the 1640s and 1650s. Dr Eardley joins Jenni to talk about the confessions of a 17th century woman.
