TOPIC 1: GRANDPARENTS
Nearly two million grandparents have given up a job, reduced their hours or taken time off work to look after their grandchildren according to a poll commissioned by charities Grandparents Plus, Save the Children, and The Family and Childcare Trust. The poll reveals that grandparents are making significant time and financial contributions towards their grandchildren's upbringing. 12% say they have spent over 1,000 pounds a year on their grandchildren; a further 17% say they've given between 500 and a thousand pounds . These figures suggest that grandparents have given a total of 8 billion pounds in the past year to pay for a range of grandchildren's needs.

TOPIC 2: FAMILY TREE
More than 300,000 First World War records will be released by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC). It is releasing some of the original documents online for the first time today as it launches new resources designed to help the public get a better understanding of those who lost their lives in service during the war. Earlier this year, 31,000 soldiers' wills were also added to the Scotland's People website. Unfortunately, tracing your family history around wartime can be very difficult as many records were destroyed.
