TOPIC 1: PRAYER
According to a report on attitudes towards faith and belief in Scotland, the majority of the people surveyed said they believed that prayer could change the world, that there is life after death and that not everything can be explained by science. More than 1400 people were asked 38 questions relating to ethical issues and of the respondents 66% said there were things that cannot be explained by science and some 58% said prayer can have a real effect on the world. The 2011 census found 37% of people in Scotland regard themselves as non-religious. This compared with just under one-third of the population (32%) who classed their religion as Church of Scotland and 16% who followed the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland.

TOPIC 2: HOMELESS
A row has erupted over what's thought to be the first case in Scotland of a barrier being erected to deter rough sleepers from a street in Glasgow's city centre. It had already happened in London, but a metal block was put up in St Vincent Lane in Glasgow. On Tuesday, Glasgow City Council issued the building owners seven days' notice to have the barriers removed.
They were taken down by members of the public the next morning.
