Jamie Cullum plays an hour of jazz music ranging from its heritage to its future.

This week, Jamie's guest is the New Orleans pianist and singer Dr John. He talks about the lasting influence of legendary trumpeter and fellow New Orleanian Louis Armstrong on his career, and about his decision to record an album of his compositions.

The musician also tells how working with musicians from the 1950s Louisiana R'n'B scene such as Joe Tex and Frankie Ford influenced his diverse musical style.
