This documentary takes you to the harsh working environments endured by Alaska's fishermen during the wild salmon season. Get an eye-opening insight into life on board and in the processing facilities. Examine how the purse seine net fishery and the long line fishery operate all year round whilst battling the brutal Alaskan elements and witness the fiercely competitive annual sock-eye salmon fishing frenzy worth 60 million dollars.

In this episode, fishing has been open for the third day in a row. Skipper Gavin continues to lead the pack until he commits the rookie mistake, sleeping in. He rushes out of the river to beat the tide but gets caught on a sandbar. Skipper Dan on the Paragon is feeling the pinch of a slow season but fights for a spot on the line to finally score a big haul.

Skipper Wes on the Night's Edge is also feeling the heat of a bad start to the season. He heads to a fishing location where he hears others are having success. When the net hits the water, it explodes with fish. The good fortune is short lived. As the crew hauls the fish filled net in, a hydraulic line bursts.
