Pharoah Sanders Quartet
Claire Martin presents tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders with his quartet recorded live on the main stage at the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland in 2014.
Alongside some of the best new releases from the world of Jazz, Claire Martin presents the Pharoah Sanders Quartet recorded live on the main stage at the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland last July.
The tenor saxophone legend was part of John Coltrane's band in the sixties and went on to become one of the prime movers in the free jazz movement, prompting the likes of Ornette Coleman to describe Sanders as the best tenor sax player in the world.
In today's performance he is accompanied by William Henderson on piano, bassist Oliver Hayhurst and Jim Calderazzo, on drums.
