Semi-Final Classics Part 1

Guy Mowbray looks back at two famous FA Cup semi-finals - Liverpool v Everton at Maine Road in 1977 and Chesterfield v Middlesbrough in 1997.

Guy Mowbray looks back at two famous FA Cup semi-finals, and they don't come more dramatic or controversial than this. Liverpool took on Everton at Maine Road in 1977 in a fantastic encounter that proves referees's decisions were just as contentious in the seventies.

Twenty years after that match, but long before goal-line technology was introduced, Chesterfield were trying to become the first side from the third tier to reach an FA Cup final when they took on Middlesbrough in a match they still argue about to this day.
