Bobby Friction and Jo Whiley celebrate India Season with four artists who have their musical roots in India. Classical sitarist Anoushka Shankar, alternative underground producer, Niraj Chag, Bollywood and Desi pop artist Raghav and urban Asian rapper Raxstar perform their individual and Indian inspired music.
Anoushka Shankar, one of the world's most accomplished sitar players, joins Bobby Friction & Jo Whiley to perform her unique brand of contemporary classical Indian music, with a sneak listen to a new track.

Those classical sounds are echoed in the music of producer Niraj Chag, who uses those same classical elements and intertwines them with both folk and electronic sounds to create an alternative Hindi sound.
Niraj Chag, is now most closely associated with big instrumental pieces he does for film and TV, from wild life films to hard hitting documentaries, however he will be performing from his most recent album, Mud Doll, which takes us back to his roots, bringing on the vocals of Japjit Kaur and a return to songs and music that pulls in elements of classical Indian along with folk influences.
Raghav is at the other extreme, with influences from America and Canada Raghav first made his mark in desi hip hop and pop, selling over a million copies of his debut album Storyteller. Since then Raghav has traversed the world of Bollywood play back singing and has most recently worked with arguably the finest hindi music composer of our time, AR Rahman. Raghav will be performing an unplugged version of one of his biggest Bollywood hits.
Raxstar brings us firmly back to the UK desi scene. This eclectic rapper takes his influences form the UK grime scene as well as the Indian music from his heritage combining it to form a very current, urban desi sound.
