Sharon makes a drastic decision, but her day takes a turn when she learns a worrying truth. Ben and Kathy reach breaking point. Paul attempts to help Pam and Les.

In Phil’s house Sharon calls up the stairs to Dennis. She turns to see a pumpkin rolling down the staircase before it cracks open on the hall floor. Dennis has been trying to draw Phil’s face on it for kids club. Sharon screws up the photo of Phil and leaves in a hurry. She visits Margaret Midhurst at her office. Margaret sits Sharon down and steps outside to take a call. She is agitated with the person on the end of the line and informs them that Sharon is with her and that the police have been ringing and are on their way over. She will no longer cover for them. She returns to Sharon who states that she wants to file for divorce.

The conversation is cut short when Sharon receives a call from Jay asking her to come home. DCI Marsden escorts Kathy out of the police station and tells her that she will call her when they identify whose blood was found in Gavin’s house. Ben opens the Beales’ back door to find his mother on the doorstep. She explains where she has been and what she told the police. When Ben hears that there was no one in the house he rounds on Ian blaming him and his phone call to Gavin. Kathy puts two and two together and tells them about the blood. Later Kathy is sat at Phil’s dining table looking at her phone waiting for the results. Sharon comes home on Jay’s request and Kathy tells her what has happened. Sharon is hostile towards Kathy and refuses to believe that Phil might be dead. As she turns to leave DCI Marsden enters the room. The results show that the blood was Phil’s. Sharon rounds on Kathy and discovers that the others knew. Later, there is a knock at the door. Jay, Ben and Sharon stare at it wondering if it is safe to answer. Sharon cautiously opens it and as she does so Phil falls through onto the floor…

At home Shabnam is struggling to fill in her residency application for Jade. Khush calms her down and returns to his stall. On the market Buster is preparing for a meeting with the social worker and wants to make sure he makes a good impression. In the Minute Mart, Shabnam is still preoccupied with the application as Fiona enters. She starts to question her and Fiona offers Shabnam a proper meeting where they can discuss everything in detail. Dean has overheard Shabnam’s conversation and tells her she has no chance of getting Jade back. She heads to Stacey’s flat where Martin (wearing a Halloween mask) frightens her. He mistook her for Stacey and apologises. Shabnam tells Martin that she is worried about the application.

Martin comforts her with the knowledge that he and Sonia got Rebecca back and that she and Khush have a great future ahead of them as a couple. Something clicks for Shabnam and she excitedly thanks Martin for talking to her and rushes out, leaving him confused. Later on she finds Khush on his stall and tells him that she has arranged for them to be married next week.

Paul returns home to find Les alone. Billy enters and Paul asks him to open up the Funeral Parlour for them. Paul heads to the market in search for Donna and asks her if she has seen Pam. She tells him that she was making plans to go and visit her sister in Worthing. Paul rushes to the tube station and catches Pam before she leaves. He pleads with her to stay but she can’t forgive Les for confiding in another woman. When he returns Paul finds his grandfather playing ‘At Last’ on repeat. Paul stops the music and Les tells Paul about the first time he wore one of his mother’s dresses. He based Christine on his mother’s seamstress. Paul pleads with Les to talk to Pam but Les explains that his father had caught him and the look of disgust he gave him was the same look Pam had. Later Paul returns with Pam. The tension is palpable and becomes too much for Pam. She goes to leave but Les tells her to stay, he will go so that she doesn’t have to. Paul suggests he stays with Billy for a while.
