The poet Maura Dooley’s new collection ‘The Silvering’ (Bloodaxe) is a book about grief and loss. Maura tells Ian about her writing process, which she calls ‘a chipping away’, the pleasure of the short poem, and the importance to her of the shape of the poem on the page.

For The Verb she performs stripped-back versions of songs from her debut album ‘Confessions of a Romance Novelist’ (Kscope) with violinist Sophie Green. A collection of songs existing in the space between autobiography and fiction, Catherine explains why she chose to give each song an epigraph.
