Independence Day: Resurgence, Whisky Galore and EIFF 2016

The Edinburgh International Film Festival 2016 is in full swing and Janice Forsyth talks to director Gillies McKinnon about his reimagining of Whisky Galore!

It's film review day here on The Janice Forsyth Show and The EIFF 2016 is in full swing: acclaimed Director Gillies McKinnon, and actor Iain Robertson, will discuss Whisky Galore! - the closing film at the EIFF - a re-imagining of the classic Ealing comedy film based on the book by Compton Mackenzie.

Regular Critics, Eddie Ian Hoey and Alistair Harkness will share their thoughts on this week's big cinema releases including: Independence Day: Resurgence - two decades after the first Independence Day invasion, Earth is faced with a new extra-Solar threat. But will mankind's new space defences be enough?

They will also discuss the much anticipated, 'Elvis & Nixon,' a gripping biopic which chronicles the day in December 1970, when Elvis Presley got himself invited to the Oval Office to talk with President Richard Nixon!

Later in the show, they will be joined by Pasquale Iannone to share their thoughts on this year's EIFF and their 'Best of the Fest' picks. Ahead of the Patricia Highsmith retrospective at the EIFF, Pasquale will also look back at the cinema adaptations of her writing. One of the biggest highlights this year has been the 'In Person' event with Kim Cattrall - Perhaps best known as the sexually adventurous Samantha in Sex and the City, and for her appearances in the 1980s classics Big Trouble in Little China and Mannequin. The event was sold out but we were there and managed to record it all - you can hear what she had to say about her illustrious career later in the show.

Don't Miss it!
