Williams became an open mic poet in 1995. By 1996, he had won the title of Nuyorican Poets Cafe's Grand Slam Champion, and by 2016, he had released his fifth album 'Martyr Loser King' and was dubbed "the data-age Gil Scott-Heron".

This morning, he discusses the importance of expressing yourself through this medium, and Mary Anne plays some of his favourite lyricists, Public Enemy, Kendrick Lamar and Kojey Radical...
