Annie Dow was born 26 years ago with what was described then as a 'mild mental disability' but no one knew quite why. It was a medical mystery and remained so for the first 13 years of her life. Then along came Professor David Fitzpatrick who used breakthrough genetics technology to diagnose a problem so rare he named it Annie's Syndrome. Today, Professor Fitzpatrick is confident that within a few years he will find out why Annie has twenty five deleted chromosomes and, along with Annie's Mum Sophie Dow, believes this will further our understanding of learning disabilities and identify other 'Annie's'.
