LawWorks is a charity that connects lawyers volunteering their time and expertise with people in need. We believe that free and timely legal advice can make a positive impact on the lives of people who would otherwise not be able to pay for a solicitor and who no longer qualify for legal aid.聽 We support over 220 clinics across England and Wales where vulnerable individuals with low incomes can receive free legal advice on the issues most important to them, such as housing, debt, employment and family law.

Trish, whose story you hear in our appeal, was helped by Nicole (pictured), one of over 4,800 volunteer lawyers who provide free legal advice at clinics in our network. Trish found Nicole at a monthly legal clinic run at a children鈥檚 hospice where her grandson, Billy, sometimes stays.

LawWorks works with other organisations to help set up clinics, like a collaboration with Shelter from the Storm, a homeless shelter in London which provides food and beds for over 40 guests each night.聽 At the clinic, volunteer lawyers provide advice every fortnight on housing and other issues to people staying at the shelter.聽聽

As well as assisting individuals, LawWorks also helps small not-for-profit organisations that need legal advice but struggle to pay for it.聽 One example is the British Acoustic Neuroma Association (BANA), a small national charity that supports people affected by rare benign brain tumours that can affect balance, hearing and facial function.
