That money has helped, and is helping, people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world.
Life on Bomeh rubbish dump
In Freetown Sierra Leone in 2013, David Tennant met Sheka and his wife Kadia who were living and working with their four children on the Bomeh rubbish dump, scavenging for plastic to recycle. As a father, Sheka felt ashamed to give his children such a bad start in life. You hear their story in the Radio 4 Appeal.
A life of un-ending poverty
Sheka and Kadia couldn鈥檛 find another way to survive, until a grant for 拢150 from Comic Relief gave them the chance to get away from the rubbish dump and start a business making and selling stoves.聽 This means their children can now go to school and don鈥檛 have to spend their days sifting through rubbish.聽聽

A grant from Comic Relief made this market food-stall possible.
And the children can go to school
拢70 pays for everything a child needs for school for a
year.聽 And now, with an education, the
children have the chance to break the vicious circle of extreme and unending
poverty that they were trapped in.聽
