Glasgow Warriors v Edinburgh Rugby

Rob Maclean presents live coverage from Scotstoun Stadium as Glasgow Warriors host Edinburgh Rugby. Commentary is from Hugh Dan MacLennan.

Coverage from Scotstoun Stadium as the PRO12 regular season comes to an end with a Scottish derby clash between Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby.

This season has been tough for the visitors: they are languishing in the lower half of the Pro12 table having been on a wretched run of form and, after the departure of head coach Alan Solomons in September last year, acting head coach Duncan Hodge has been unable to turn the club's fortunes around. They have shown glimpses of what they are capable of at various points of the season but too many mistakes in too many matches have cost them dearly.

Glasgow broke new ground this year by reaching the quarter-finals of the European Champions Cup with some fantastic performances against the likes of Racing 92 and Leicester Tigers, but their European adventure came to an end at the hands of 2016 champions and 2017 finalists Saracens. Unfortunately that campaign, as well as international call-ups, took a toll on the Glasgow squad in the Pro12 and they have failed to make the play-offs for the first time in six years.

Both rivals will be looking to finish the season on a high. Gregor Townsend will be in charge of Glasgow for the last time before taking over as head coach of the national team. His Glasgow side won the first leg of the 1872 Cup 25-12 at Murrayfield on Boxing Day and will be hoping to give the Scotstoun faithful something to cheer about by winning the match and lifting the trophy.

Edinburgh meanwhile will feel they have a point to prove to their support by turning over the first leg deficit and retaining the trophy they've had in their possession for the last two years.
