Suffolk Wildlife Trust is on the verge of making history with their largest ever land purchase. Matt meets up with Matt Gooch, the man behind the expansion to find out what his plans are for the future of Carlton Marshes and how this 1000 acre nature reserve will help to join the lesser known Suffolk Broads with the Norfolk Broads.ÌýMatt gets his wellies on to meet ecologist Toby Aberhart who introduces him to some of the smallest residents including the rare Fen Raft Spider which is making a comeback in these waterways.Ìý

With the growing trend for eating locally and healthily the popularity of veg boxes has exploded. But for one farm getting your weekly veg hit comes with strings attached, you earn your share by donning your wellies and getting stuck in helping run the farm.Ìý Ellie spends the day at Oak Tree Low Carbon Farm where Joanne Mudhar has taken on tired and over farmed land turning it into a thriving community farm. Ellie meets volunteers, including John Revell, to find out what the farm means to them and how they share the risks and the rewards.Ìý

Suffolk has been dubbed the Bread basket of England as 30% of the UK's wheat comes from the region. John Craven meets a family to whom wheat and bread are central to their lives. In 1987 Enid Wheeler and her husband Geoff bought Bardwell Windmill but it was destroyed during that year’s infamous storm. John finds out what happened that night and meets Enid’s son who is helping to restore the mill to its former functioning glory so theÌýyoungest generation of the family, Will and Joe can bake with flour directly from their own mill.Ìý

Ben Loughrill has one big passion… wood. Ben has stacks of the stuff, and he is the first person called when anyone has some wood they want to get rid of! Ben loves nothing more than giving this wood new life in the form of his intricate wood carvings that can be seen all around the country. He also likes to experiment and has a bit of a surprise forÌýEllie which involves quite a lot of fungi!Ìý

Adam and Charlotte are in Wales meeting the first of our Countryfile Young Farmer Award finalists.ÌýThis week they're meeting 16 year old Tom Philips, who has farming in his blood. Adam and Charlotte hear how he saved his father's life after a bull attacked him when Tom was just ten years old. Since then he's shown real dedication to helping run the family farm. ÌýHe's already traveled to America to show pigs, and represented his country in tug of war with the Young Farmer Club.ÌýThe winner will be announced at an awards ceremony later this year.

After spotting an Appalachian bow saw (a saw originating in the Appalachian Mountains) at a flea market, Ahren was inspired to produce his ownÌýAppalachianÌýbow bread knife. Having collectedÌýthe wood needed from Ben Loughrill, Ahren drives Ellie back to his workshop where he shows how he crafts the knife. She then tries her hand at shaping, sanding and waxing her very own bread knife.
