Bernard MacLaverty, Robert Webb and Elif Shafak

Janice Forsyth with highlights from the Edinburgh International Book Festival, including Robert Webb's new memoir and Bernard MacLaverty on his first novel in 16 years.

Janice speaks to Glasgow-based author Bernard MacLaverty about his first novel in sixteen years, Midwinter Break, which tells the story of a marriage in its later years.

Comedian Robert Webb has just published his memoir, How Not To Be A Boy, an account of his teenage years and early adult life, and a plea to reconsider the expectations boys and men have thrust upon them through their lives about how they should behave.

On the first day of the Edinburgh Fringe last year, L A Traynor put out a call for women to join her outside the Scottish Poetry Library to create a piece of art. One year on, she's now edited a poetry anthology of work which began that day. She tells Janice about the collection Women With Fierce Words.

Edi Stark speaks to two of the exciting international authors who visited Scotland for the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Turkish author, activist, and guest selector for the festival, Elif Shafak; and the Israeli winner of the 2017 Man Booker International Prize, David Grossman.

And Pauline Moore spends a day at the book festival site in Edinburgh's Charlotte Square Gardens.
