With Thordis Elva, author of South of Forgiveness

Two hours of music and conversation with a faith and ethical perspective. Thordis Elva, author of South of Forgiveness, joins Sally Magnusson.

An inaugural conference in the capital this week will bring both Christian and Muslim scholars together to explore the theological, social, and political impact of Christian-Muslim encounters. Sally is joined by Dr Joshua Ralston, lecturer in Muslim-Christian Relations at the School of Divinity, Edinburgh University, and Dr Nayla Tabbara, director of the Adyan Institute in Beirut, promoting interreligious studies and spiritual solidarity.

On the 3rd September 1939 the Scots-built ship TSS Athenia was torpedoed. 78 years later a watch one of the survivors passed to another for safe keeping, is being unveiled at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow. Ernie Worrall, the nephew of one of the survivors, and maritime curator Emily Malcolm reveal the full story.

As part of 主播大秀 Radio Scotland's 'Choose To Chat' campaign highlighting the challenges facing lonely people in our society, our reporter Bob Dickson finds out how 'Men's Sheds' are springing up across the country, visiting one in Dalbeattie near Dumfries. They provide a meeting place where men can get together for activities and a blether.

In Glasgow's George Square today the 'One Big Picnic' hopes to strengthen community ties through inviting people to share food together. Two of the organisers, Zarina Ahmad and Linda Darby, join Sally to talk about the inspirations behind the event.

Sally talks to Thordis Elva, who's written a powerful account of her experience of sexual violence, and how she made peace with the perpetrator. Recorded live at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The List's Gareth K Vile talks to Sally about an award-winning new film, 'Gods Own Country', and some of the challenging modern preoccupations running through it, anchored by an unexpected love affair.
