Episode 5

John Craven and the team with interesting stories of the season, including how a secret wartime mission behind enemy lines brought garlic to the Isle of Wight.

Every day this week, John Craven and the Countryfile Diaries team - Keeley Donovan, Jules Hudson, Paul Martin, and Margherita Taylor - bring you the most interesting stories of the season.

In the final episode of the season, Margherita discovers how a secret wartime mission behind enemy lines brought one of our favourite seasonings, garlic, to the Isle of Wight. Keeley learns how a group of dedicated volunteers came to the dramatic rescue of a stranded sunburnt dolphin that was clinging to life. Jules finds out how going back to the past could offer a solution to the future, as he turns thatcher's apprentice for the day to discover that many of our heritage crafts are desperate for new recruits. Summer is a time we celebrate our countryside and the people who work in it at country shows, and we take you through some of the favourites Countryfile has visited over the years. And if you're an urban dweller, Paul discovers how you too can keep city bees.
