Tony Allen In Session

Jamie has a session from Afrobeat legend Tony Allen.

Jamie Cullum plays an hour of jazz ranging from its heritage to its future.

This week he has one of his favourite acts in session, Afrobeat legend Tony Allen. Tony is known for playing drums with seminal Nigerian musician Fela Kuti and credited for being a major influence on a distinctive sound that is still being felt across the music world today.

He has since worked with the likes of S茅bastian Tellier, Damon Albarn and Jarvis Cocker, amongst many others.

Recently signed to the Blue Note label, Tony plays track from his brand new album The Source as well as a very special tribute Art Blakey.
