We're living longer, we're expected to work longer, and soon, it seems, early retirement will be anyone who retires before they're 70 - but has society, the state in all its functions really got to grips with the myriad of issues associated with an ever-growing older generation? Are they viewed more as a problem rather than a gift made possible through improved standards of living and medical advances? And what is elderly these days? 65, 75 or even 80?
