Back in 1989 a 23-year-old Adam and his best friend Duncan made the trip to New Zealand keen to discover what makes Kiwi farmers some of the best in the world. Now almost 30 years later, Adam鈥檚 re visiting聽the land of the long white聽cloud to discover how farming has changed since his last visit and meet up with some old friends. Adam returns to the farm that he worked on back in the 80s, he gets a chance to harvest some avocados and to be reminded that he was once a bit of a loud snorer!

Adam continues his journey through New Zealand and is on the hunt for a very elusive and old English breed of goat that settled here over 200 years ago. In 1773 and 1777 the famous explorer Captain James Cook made two voyages to Arapawa island with animals on board. Amongst his special travellers he had an old English breed of goat. It is well documented by Cook that he released some of the goats on the island for food. 聽Adam is on a difficult mission to find the descendants of these rare goats that have lived here ever since.聽

Adam presses on across New Zealand, but his plans have had to change. The day he arrived an earthquake devastated parts of the South Island. It caused mass destruction to the infrastructure, something Adam gets to see for himself. He heads for a farm near Havelock in the Marlborough region and helps out with the sheep muster. Adam is keen to discover how they can produce lamb cheaper than in the UK. He also finds out how they manage to keep their farmland looking so lush and green.聽

It's the grand finale of Adam鈥檚 New Zealand trip. He鈥檚 at Hawkes Bay on the North Island helping muster cattle. At the age of 78, farmer, Ian Brickell still starts his working day at 5.30 am. He farms Welsh Black Cattle on his hilly farm in the mountains. Ian has a robust way of farming and breeds his animal鈥檚 tough.聽With help from his grandson and his dogs, they move the cattle to the handling pens for their annual TB test. New Zealand has significantly reduced their TB problem and Adam鈥檚 is keen to discover how.聽
